OakesSatir Collaborative, (OSC) is committed to encouraging the expansion of the network of people and practitioners who embrace the Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy (STST) Model. With deep appreciation and gratitude to our teachers, at OSC, we continue to share and expand on Virginia Satir's creative and innovative methods which are just as powerful and relevant today.
Virginia Satir, (1916 -1988) known as the mother of family therapy, was an innovative Social Worker who grew up on a farm in Wisconsin. Virginia preferred to be referred to as Virginia rather than Satir. She developed the Growth Model, aka The Seed Model, from her experiences and observations of her own family, farm life and while working with individuals and families. Approaching people with compassion and deep respect, Virginia embraced creative approaches to supporting people to become more fully human. Using her brilliance and creativity she embraced family systems theory, working in triads, utilizing gestalt, guided imagery, sculpting, psychodrama, creative arts.

Journey to Self has been embraced by OSC as the foundational program in understanding the STST Model as participants “Journey to their Authentic Self.” This is an exploration of self and family through the vehicles as developed by Virginia Satir. Our mentor Maria Gomori, a colleague and close friend to Virginia, has facilitated these programs for many years and we are honored to carry on the timeless teachings and applications to you today.

Utilizing additional STST vehicles for change, choice and congruence; such as Circle of Influence, Ingredients of an Interaction, Mandala. We will look at some of the vehicles that we did not have time to explore in Part A.

Family Reconstruction - Personal Alchemy - Transformational Events
Utilizing the vehicles as experienced in Journey to Self, these Personal Alchemy Events are designed to create opportunities for deeper transformational work. Part 2 invites a sacred way to revisit problematic areas that keep a person stuck in past coping and using reactive behaviours.
Journey to Self Part A and B, and permission of the facilitator, are pre-requisites for LEVEL 2.
